I agree that it’s not really the kind of song he performs well, since his voice tends to sound strained on ballad-type songs, but I rather like the demo. Thanks for the link!

I’ve never heard Jay sing “淘汰,” but I do have the “Fantasy Plus” DVD, so I’ve heard his versions of “你比从前快乐,” “蜗牛,” and “世界末日.” I don’t think Jay will write so much for other artists again until he retires, which he keeps threatening us with because of his own health problems. After all, when he first got started, he wasn’t a singer, so he only wrote songs for other people, and he didn’t have world tours and wasn’t acting. I did enjoy “不能说的秘密,” but he should really focus more on his music, since that’s what people want most from him.

I doubt he’ll ever go back to writing as many songs for other artists as he used to. I still look forward to his compositions though, for example 淘汰 is insanely good and I don’t think Jay would have performed it as well as Eason did.

I kind of liked “Ni Bu Xiang Ta,” but out of NQMM’s album, I liked Lara Veronin’s solo the most. NQMM is the band Jay started back in 2004, and they write most of their own songs, so the two Jay composed were a rarity. I like the band, but more for their own songs, and I also liked the piano battle Yuhao played and partly wrote for “Secret.”

A lot of people release their albums in the Fall, so he might write something good for someone better later in the year, but I’m mostly looking forward to the songs he writes and sings himself.

I’ve never seen the list with the lyricists! Vincent writes so many of them! I don’t really like a whole lot of the songs Jay wrote for other artists, just because I don’t always like the singers he wrote them for, but some of these are really good. You’re missing the newer ones, though. Jay composed “你不像她” for 南拳妈妈 for their new album “南搞小孩” and 宋健彰, one of the members of the band, wrote the lyrics. Jay also composed “安静了” for S.H.E’s “我的电台 FM S.H.E” this year, and Selina wrote the lyrics. I personally dislike S.H.E, but I’ll just add it to your list anyways.
